The senior leadership from CCIIO (Center for Consumer Information & Insurance Oversight), the federal agency responsible for implementing health insurance exchanges, will be in Hawaiʻi this week.
There will be a legislative briefing on Monday, January 7 and a public forum on Tuesday, January 8.
The Hawaii Health Connector invites you to the legislative briefing with Senator Rosalyn "Roz" Baker and representatives from the Connector and CCIIO. We apologize for the short notice, as this information was just confirmed yesterday. The joint briefing is open to the public and we highly encourage everyone to attend, as there will be lots of valuable information on the Connector and our state's progress. The briefing will also be televised on ʻŌlelo Channel 49, for those who are unable to attend. During the briefing there will be no opportunity for public comment nor a Q&A session.
However, the Connector has been able to secure a meeting with CCIIO officials specifically for consumers who have questions or want to learn more about state-based exchanges. We would like to invite consumers to the public forum, as this will be an opportunity to interact directly with the federal team responsible for defining the roles and rules of the exchanges.
The CCIIO attendees will be:
- Amanda Cowley – Acting Director, State Exchange Group (Designee for CCIIOO Director, Gary Cohen)
- Eric Alborg – State Officer, State Exchange Group
Due to lack of space and to ensure an open, informal atmosphere, we ask that each organization only send one person. Please RSVP at your earliest convenience, so we may ensure adequate logistics. A teleconference line will be available for those who are unable to attend.
